Hi, I'm Morgan

I saw a meme today that made me smile.

It said:
“For dating couples, it’s Valentine’s Day.
For parents, it’s Saturday. And someone has a game.”

It’s funny because it’s true.

Valentine’s Day — and honestly, the way we express love in general — has evolved a lot over the 13 years of our marriage. I used to love planning something thoughtful for David and shopping for the perfect gift. (And let’s be honest… I also loved anticipating whatever romantic surprise he might have up his sleeve for me.)

Now? Some days the sexiest thing David can do is unload the dishwasher or say, “I’ve got bedtime tonight. Go take a minute to yourself.”

It’s less about grand gestures and more about practical, real-life love.

These days, love looks like knowing each other’s coffee orders and quick text messages sent from the school pickup line. It sounds like, “I’ve got this,” when everyone is tired and patience is thin. It feels like being noticed. Like being known.

Scripture tells us to “clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience” (Colossians 3:12). That’s love in real life. Not flashy, but faithful.

So, with that in mind, I took a page from one of my favorite food bloggers and created a super practical list — 10 small, tangible ways to say “I love you.”

10 Ways to Say “I Love You”

1. “I see how hard you’re working. I’m so grateful for you.”
Words of affirmation. Specific encouragement goes a long way.

2. Take one thing off their plate without announcing it.
Roll in the trashcans on trash day. Take his car for an oil change.

3. Send a mid-day text that isn’t logistical.
“Just thinking about you.” “Can’t wait to spend time with you tonight.” Simple yet powerful.

4. Recreate an early memory.
Make the tacos from your first apartment. Play “your song.”

5. Pray for him.
Intentionally, thoughtfully go to the Lord on their behalf.

6. Genuinely laugh at his dad jokes.
You might be tempted to roll your eyes, but remember your giggle reminds says I’m still your biggest fan. Embrace his unique brand of humor.

7. Take an interest in their world. Learn about their hobbies.
Learn the names of the players on their favorite team. Ask them to explain the difference between a LOI and an RFP. Curiosity communicates care.

8. Leave a sticky note somewhere unexpected.
Steering wheel. Laptop. Bathroom mirror. “So grateful you’re mine!”

9. Brag about them in front of the kids.
Tell them what a stud their daddy is. Share a story about when he showed courage, kindness, or faithfulness. Let your kids hear you speak honor over your spouse.

10. Initiate affection.
A lingering hug, a flirty text, turning toward them instead of the to-do list. Physical closeness says, I still choose you.

What would you add to this list?

Whether you’ve got an epic date night planned for Valentine’s Day or a basketball game (like we do) I hoep you still find lots of ways to say “I love you” to your man. Because big love is often built from small, faithful moments.

When You're Asking: Does Anyone Even Notice?

Motherhood doesn't come with a lot of "atta girls." If I'm honest, I crave the affirmation and sense of accomplishment that comes in other areas of my life where performance is measured by grades, bonuses, and promotions. Mama, if you're like me, here's a quick reminder for you: Christ sees you, even in the trenches. Let me show how God reminded me of this in Luke 7.
