In 2016 I scaled back to part-time in my job as marketing strategist (my favorite job!) to attend seminary (a life-long dream!)
In my first month of classes I found out I was pregnant with our first daughter. And, for a split second, I wondered if motherhood would hinder my spiritual growth or ability to learn.
Instead, God has used the blessing of children to grow me more than I could ever dream. No season of life has developed my faith more than motherhood. My mom-era has been filled with more joy than I ever thought possible and challenged me in ways I never expected.
Sure, I still love to slide into heels and step into a boardroom or plant myself in the front row of a lecture hall so I can take allll the notes, but nothing compares to the learning and growth that happens around our kitchen table (myself included!)
But, let’s be honest… it’s a job we all feel ill-equipped for.
Kids don’t come with an owner’s manual, yet parenting often feels high-stakes. (And most days, we are doing it sleep-deprived, fueled by leftover chicken nuggets or grilled-cheese crusts.)
I’m continually in awe of the fact that we get to raise the next generation of Christ-followers. What a privilege!
